You will be judged based on:
- Choreography/Improv (Ability to perform on cue and without hitches or noticeable nerves)
- Musciality (Ability to correctly follow music of choice)
- Bellydance Vocabulary (Does your music match you style, do you follow dums/teks)
- Interaction with band and audience.
- Costume & exterior appearance. (It is not on the high value of the costume, but if for example subject-oriented, etc.)
- Musical and own artistic interpretation
- Expression
- Timing and Transition
- Costume and make up (overall appearance)
- Professionalism
- Use of props, however, props are not required!
- Groups: unison, group energy, synchronicity / synchrony
- Groups / formations will be evaluated as a unit. Solo dance deposits within the group choreography should not predominate, but are generally allowed.
Competition Rules:
- All entries are first come first serve with limited contestant space.
- There will be NO REFUND after sign up unless venue is canceled.
- Competitors may enter more than one category, provided they meet the criteria for the categories. You may not consciously sign up for a category less than your experience.
- All contestants must sign a release form. If you haven’t done so by the time you arrive, you’ll be asked to do so at the EVENT. (If you are a minor, your parent or legal guardian must sign.)
- There is no gender restriction on the participants.
- Bring your identification card, receipts, and other relevant documents.
- Check in at the front desk no later than one hour before the competition starts. If not, you may lose your turn.
- Bring everything essential to your performance, including bio, props, etc.
- You must BRING WITH YOU a 4-inch by 6-inch index card. On it include your “Full Name”, your “Stage Name”, and a short piece of information, approximately 30 to 40 words long, about you (or your troupe, if applicable). We will use this to introduce you to the audience. All information must be printed to avoid confusion.
- Each performance will have a slow taxim that blends into a song of approximately 5 minutes long. The song will be selected the day of the event.
- All judges’ scores are final.
- Please do not talk to judges about your performance or other related topics.
- Proper costumes, appropriate for a family atmosphere, must be worn. If not, you will be disqualified.
- You must wear cover-ups over your costume when you’re not performing. If not, you will be disqualified.
- If you’re under 18, you must be accompanied by an adult while you are at the event. If not, you will be disqualified.
